What Causes Hair Loss or Thinning?

 

There are some conditions that can cause permanent and severe hair loss:

Alopecia areata: an inflammatory condition that causes hair to come out in clumps or patches.

 

Temporary hair shedding problem, such as Telogen effluvium:

a change in the natural hair growth system that often follows child birth, crash dieting,surgery or a traumatic emotional event.  The correct diagnosis is essential, seek help from a doctor, and make certain to check for possible medical conditions.

 

Hair Loss in African-American women

Thinning hair  (hair loss) in women can be caused by many reasons, from temporary conditions to medical disorders.

 

One of the most common causes behind hair loss in African American Women is  trauma or injury to the scalp due to the techniques used in some Black hair styles: constant pulling of the hair, weave, braids. tight  pony tails, tight rollers,relaxers, and excessive use of hair grease, hot or flat iron, hot comb This condition is called traumatic alopecia (Hair Thinning)

 

Hair loss in women Certain ailments,  medications and often hormonal imbalance or change can cause hair loss.  Menopause, Birth control, Hormonal changes, Aging, Medications, Hypothyroidism(Thyroid )Medicines or Therapies Side effects and genetics, diseases. Also lack of certain nutrients due to poor nutrition, Poor diet, lack of vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin B12.  

Crash dieting, in which a woman loses a large amount of weight rapidly, Stress, emotional trauma also  Anemia - iron deficiency, Pregnancy,pollutants and stress.
